Specialty Functional Lab Testing

A functional approach to health doesn’t just treat your symptoms on the surface level. Cherise aims to get to the root cause of all health conditions so she can develop a holistic, highly personalized treatment plan. That often requires special tests to really assess what’s going on in your body. Most patients do not need all of the following tests but it’s a gamechanger with Cherise having all these tools in her toolbox! Some of the specialty tests Wellness.Balance.You. offers include:

Extensive blood panel. These tests can be customized to encompass your specific health profile, but often includes evaluating how your thyroid, kidneys, liver, and other organs are functioning. She also tests for nutritional deficiencies by checking your levels of ferritin, vitamin D and B12, iodine, selenium, and magnesium. Cherise’ s extensive thyroid testing includes: TSH, free T3, free T4, Reverse T3, thyroid peroxidase antibodies and thyroglobulin antibodies. There are additional antibodies she orders on a case by case basis.

Saliva Profile III by ZRT. Shifting hormone levels affect us all in many different ways, especially with age. As part of a closer look at your sex and adrenal hormones, she tests saliva for levels of estrogen, progesterone, DHEA-S, testosterone, and cortisol throughout the day.

Estrogen Urinary Metabolites by ZRT. Growing evidence shows the way we metabolize estrogens influences our wellbeing, particularly our risk for certain cancers. This test looks at markers that help us assess how your body processes estrogen.

Genova GI Comprehensive Stool Testing. Many medical conditions can be traced to problems in the digestive tract. This test gives information on how your digestive system is functioning, as well as indicating if you’re experiencing inflammation or infection. It also looks for dysbiosis, which is an imbalance of bacteria in your gut, and metabolite imbalances.

Genova Food Allergy and Sensitivity Testing. Adverse reactions to foods can trigger an extremely wide range of symptoms, and it’s often difficult to trace the food that’s responsible Remember-food sensitivities (compared to a food allergy) can cause symptoms up to 18 hours later! This test looks for antibodies for many common foods, so Cherise can address dietary issues right away.

NutraEval FMV. This comprehensive test gives a very deep dive into your metabolic health. We test both blood and urine (FMV stands for first morning void) for a total of 125 markers to truly get a sense of which nutrients your body needs. Through NutraEval FMV, we’ll discover the oxidative stress your cells are under, any mitochondrial (your cellular engine) dysfunction, or omega or methylation imbalances, and any toxin exposure your body has experienced. With the NutraEval FMV, we assess:

  • Organic acids
  • Malabsorption dysbiosis, which helps Cherise determine the balance of bacteria of your microbiome
  • Cellular energy and mitochondrial markers, which tells Cherise how your body metabolizes carbs and fatty acids
  • Neurotransmitter metabolites, for insight into your levels of mood hormones like serotonin, dopamine, epinephrine, and norepinephrine.
  • Toxin markers to see how body detoxifies toxins
  • Oxalate markers, which provide insight into your kidney function and metabolism
  • Oxidative stress markers, which can measure the damage caused by oxidative stress, a key element in the signs of aging
  • Amino acids. Amino acids are the building blocks of your cells, so imbalances can have an often under-estimated impact on health. These tests help Cherise determine any imbalances and nutritional deficiencies affecting your health. Amino acid testing includes:
  • Essential amino acids
  • Nonessential amino acids
  • Intermediary metabolites of metabolizing amino acids
  • Urea Cycle, which helps determine how protein is broken down in your body
  • Essential and metabolic fatty acid markers. Fatty acids’ anti-inflammatory properties contribute to optimal brain and cardiovascular health. We look at:
  • Omega 3 Fatty Acids

  • Omega 6 Fatty Acids

  • Omega 9 Fatty Acids

  • Saturated Fatty Acids

  • Monounsaturated Fats include omega 7 fats and unhealthy trans fats

  • Delta-6 Desaturase Activity assesses enzyme’s metabolic ability for Omega 3 and Omega 6

The best treatment plan is one tailored to your unique health concerns. These tests are all designed to get us started by determining exactly what you need to reach optimum wellness.

  • Cardiovascular Risk, which includes analyzing ratios of omega fatty acids.
  • Glycine/Serine Metabolites
  • Dietary Peptide Related Markers can indicate incomplete protein
    •
